David Nowell, a business editor at the Lancashire Post in England, has retired after almost half a century in the industry.
Nowell began his career as a trainee at the Chorley Guardian. He then worked at the Blackpool daily The Gazette and Wolverhampton daily the Express & Star. He also took an initial stint at the Preston-based Post.
He rejoined the Gazette, holding several news desk roles. He has also freelanced for various titles, including the Manchester Evening News, before returning to the Post in his most recent role in 2013.
Nowell said:
“The time has come after nearly 47 years to step back and relax.
“I need to spend more time with my family and write that novel I have been promising myself for 20 years.”
