LA Times econ reporter Kitreoff to join NY Times

Natalie Kitreoff

New York Times business editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following staff announcement on Monday evening:

I’m thrilled to announce that Natalie Kitroeff will join Business Day.

Natalie joins us from the Los Angeles Times, where she covered the California economy and basked in the beauty and strangeness  of her new home. She was a finalist for this year’s Loeb Award for beat reporting. (One of her editors pulled me aside at the ceremony to say he’d traveled to New York just to make sure I didn’t hire her.)

Prior to moving to L.A in 2016, Natalie spent two years covering student debt and higher education for Bloomberg. She also wrote stories for Businessweek, including a feature with the headline, “Are Lawyers Getting Dumber?” (The answer was yes.)

This will be Natalie‘s second tour at The New York Times. After graduating from Princeton she was a research assistant to Charles Blow and Nick Kristof.

So please welcome back Natalie. She’ll arrive in mid-September and will cover economics and heavy industry.
