KC Star biz reporter laid off

John Landsberg of Bottom Line Communications reports that the Kansas City Star has laid off a business reporter, Randy Heaster, who was covering three beats.

Landsberg writes, “Heaster, the paper’s Labor, Manufacturing and Transportation reporter/columnist had a huge beat that included covering labor issues, trucking, railroads and unions.

“Randy Heaster is also the son of the Kansas City Star’s legendary business columnist and editor Jerry Heaster, who retired in March 2006 after 27 years with the newspaper.”
