Rob Roberts, a reporter at the Kansas City Business Journal, has left the American City Business Journals paper to take a job as a reporter for the Lee’s Summit Journal in Missouri.
Julie Scheidegger writes, “Roberts grew up in Jackson County, living in Independence and graduating from Raytown High School. He’s also got family and friends in Lee’s Summit.
“‘I’m excited about learning about Lee’s Summit and getting involved in the community,’ Roberts said. ‘I don’t think you can really do community journalism without being involved. That’s the fun part.’ Roberts recently worked at the Kansas City Business Journal, but was eager to return to his roots at a community newspaper.
“‘I was in business journalism for the last seven years,’ Roberts said. ‘I really wanted to get back to community journalism.’
“Roberts’ dedication to the profession has even gone beyond reporting. He owned the Journal Herald in Shawnee, Kan., from 1983 to 1993.”
