The Kansas City Business Journal has hired Mary King to oversee special sections and awards, and revive its engineering and architecture beat.

Editor Brian Kaberline reports, “Mary has extensive experience in all aspects of journalism and in business. She was editor of the Jackson County Advocate until the end of last year, when the forces devastating local journalism forced her family to close the newspaper that had served Grandview and the south Kansas City area for 68 years. In that position, she reported, edited and directed the news operation, and she also oversaw the business side of the operation.

“She has been a leader out of the office, too, serving on the boards of the Missouri Press Association and the Grandview Chamber of Commerce. She was president of the Grandview Main Street Association and co-chaired the Grandview Bright Futures program for the school district.”
