The Kansas City Business Journal has hired Thomas Friestad to cover commercial real estate.
Friestad writes, “I followed my passion for journalism from the Washington, D.C., suburbs to the University of Missouri. There, I was fortunate to take part in numerous formative opportunities — most notably, two weeks of field reporting in Costa Rica and covering the scene of the second 2016 presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis.
“I leaped right into the world of local journalism out of college, spending a little more than two years writing about local government for The Bucks County Courier Times, with a coverage area encompassing 54 municipalities in the Philadelphia suburbs.
“During the past year, I was the business reporter for The Gazette in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My purview included goings-on at some of the state’s largest companies, trends affecting Eastern Iowa workers — including vulnerable low-wage and immigrant populations — and all manner of local projects and transactions.”
