Kansas City Star changes stock listings

The Kansas City Star, which cut its stock listings back in May, has once again made some cuts to its stock pages, wrote Chris Lester, assistant managing editor for business.

Lester stated that the changes affect the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday papers.

He wrote, “The section will continue to list 1,000 stocks daily. But the list has been adjusted to ensure that the entire Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index will appear, plus selected stocks requested by readers. Stocks that appear in our regional stock list will not be repeated in the main stock list.

“More than 80 percent of the total market capitalization of the domestic stock market will continue to be represented in our daily listings.

“The mutual fund listings will be limited to the 500 largest funds on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A list of 1,000 funds that includes the largest funds, locally managed funds and funds selected by readers will continue to appear Saturday and Tuesday.

“A mutual fund spotlight feature will be discontinued Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

“Also, several items in the ‘More From the Markets” listings will no longer appear in the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday sections.”
