Journal of Business editor retires

Richard Ripley, the editor of the Journal of Business in Spokane, Wash., is retiring at the end of the year after 23 years at the paper.

A story on its site states, “Meanwhile, Journal Publisher Greg Bever has announced two other management changes at the newspaper. Assistant Editor Paul Read will be promoted to operations manager, a new position, and News Editor Kim Crompton will succeed Ripley as editor.

“Ripley, 63, joined the Journal of Business in 1987 as assistant editor, and became editor of the paper in 1995.”

The Journal, a Cowles paper, was launched in February 1986 and primarily serves the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene market area. It publishes bi-weekly, 26 times a year, and has an average distribution of about 15,000 copies.
