Matthew Patane, a former business reporter for the Des Moines Register, has been hired by the Cedar Rapids Gazette in Iowa to cover business.
He starts Monday.
Patane worked at the Register from November 2013 to October 2016. He primarily covered technology, innovation and finance, including Iowa’s startup community, companies and groups across the state, policy issues and the uses of emerging technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles.
He also reported on some of the state’s largest public companies and biggest economic development projects, including multiple billion-dollar data centers.
“I’m excited to join The Cedar Rapids Gazette and to have the opportunity to continue to cover business news that affects Iowans,” said Patane in an email to Talking Biz News.
In recent months, he has been writing for Clay & Milk, a website covering Iowa startups.
Patane, a University of Missouri graduate, interned on the business desk of the Denver Post.
