io9 promotes Whitbrook to news editor
io9, the Gizmodo-owned site that covers futurism, science and technology, has promoted James Whitbrook to news editor, effective July 1.
He had previously been staff writer, and he has been with io9 for five years.
“I will still be writing regularly, but it means I’ll also be helping dot i’s, cross t’s, and shape the site’s voice in ways I’m excited to do,” Whitbrook said on Twitter.
io9 was founded in 2008 by Annalee Newitz, a former policy analyst for the Electronic Frontier Foundation and contributor to Popular Science, Wired, and New Scientist.
It was made a part of Gizmodo in 2014.
