Investopedia moves Carey to oversee online investing coverage

Investopedia, one of the largest financial and investing sites, has mover brokerage expert Theresa Carey to running its coverage of online investing tools and platforms.

Carey, who has been covering financial technology and online brokers for 27 years, was most recently at Barron’s, where she covered the brokerage industry until 2018. She joined Investopedia in June 2018.

Carey led Investopedia’s 2019 Online Brokers Review, which launched this week, and is one of the most comprehensive online broker reviews in the industry.

At Barron’s Carey was the original author of “The Electronic Investor” column, which transformed into “Digital Investor” in 2015. She is the author of all 23 annual reviews of online brokers that appeared every March in Barron’s from 1996 to 2018.

“This recent hire reflects Investopedia’s continuing commitment to create new platforms and experiences that deliver the best educational content on investing and financial topics for students, business professional and financial advisors,” said editor in chief Caleb Silver in a statement.

“Investing and the financial industry have become more complicated and nuanced since Investopedia was first created in 1999, therefore we are laser focused on making sure our content experiences are built for the investors of today and the future.”

He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
