International Business Times names two managing editors
International Business Times editor Peter Goodman sent out the following staff promotions:
I’m excited to fill you in on two key leadership changes that will immediately allow us to better leverage the growing talents of our newsroom: Effective immediately, Nancy Cooper and Mark Bonner are both managing editors.
Since joining the team six months ago, Nancy has become nothing less than indispensable. Her skills as an editor, her breadth of subject expertise — from Mitch McConnell to Kate Middleton — her first-rate judgment, and her general spirit of team play ensures that there is usually a line of writers waiting to seek her counsel. She will continue in her role as the senior editor responsible for running the show in the evening while also leading the charge on our political report. She will also play a broader role in crystallizing newsroom-wide strategy.
Mark’s contributions to the team since his own arrival have been substantial. While enhancing our front page, he has made IB Times an increasing destination. His commitment to digital best practices has yielded enormous gains in traffic while making our stories more timely and engaging. And his enthusiasm for our mission is infectious. Every newsroom needs someone obsessed about process and committed to the tiny details that go into excellence. Mark is already that guy, and this move merely makes it official. He will now play an increasingly central role in plotting our coverage plans.
Our senior edit team is now stronger than ever. Nancy and Mark are at the center of it. Please join me in congratulating them both on these well-deserved promotions.
