International Business Times boosts breaking news team

International Business Times editor in chief Peter Goodman sent out the following message on Wednesday:

We’re delighted to share word of a significant infusion of fresh talent to our already formidable breaking news team:

Bruce Wright joins us later this month as deputy breaking news editor. A native New Yorker eager to return home, he comes to us from Boston.com, where he was a key piece of the Pulitzer Prize-winning breaking news team that covered the Boston Marathon bombing and manhunt. Previously, he worked at the New York Times, where he labored in the trenches of the newsdesk, helping editors punch up Web headlines. Bruce began his career as a copy aide at the Washington Post. Since then, he has proven himself a smart and fast thinker, a collegial and calm presence, and a news junkie — all virtues that will be key to helping elevate and expand the breaking news operation.  A father of two and a fan of hip-hop and hoops, Bruce is an avid supporter of that D-league team known as the New York Knicks, making his timing impeccable: He will have no difficulty securing seats at the Garden.  We are thrilled to welcome him to the newsroom.

Aaron Morrison landed here this week from the Bergen Record. He will patrol a wide-ranging beat on civil rights and demographics while jumping into whatever big stories demand our attention. A reporter’s reporter with a knack for getting people to talk, Aaron distinguished himself at the Record with a series of stories on the travails of minority communities in northern New Jersey. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Aaron has previously worked for the Miami Herald, both in Florida and as UN correspondent in New York. He lives in Brooklyn and counts himself a serious enthusiast of home cooking and Korean BBQ. We expect great things.

Please join us in welcoming these two accomplished journalists to our growing newsroom.
