Institutional Investor plans to launch a website called RIA Intel that will cover registered investment advisers.

The site will launch March 1.

The focus will be on covering the largest registered investment advisors and the financial firms that partner with them, said Kip McDaniel, editor in chief and chief content officer of Institutional Investor.

“The RIA space is one of the fastest-growing segments of the financial markets, and one that II is excited to start covering journalistically,” said McDaniel. “We’re going to take what II has become known for in the last few years – being the chronicle of institutional asset management, with a strong voice and an edge – and apply it to the RIA market. We’re going to focus on investing, on practice management, and on wealth management, and tackle the controversial issues and big personalities that populate this space.”

The new website ties into a larger push by Institutional Investor’s event business. The company is a growing player in the RIA-focused event market. So as the Institutional Investor publication aligns and supports events for an institutional investor audience, RIA Intel will do the same for RIA-focused events.

Institutional Investor became an online-only publication last year after 51 years as a print magazine.
