Inside Business gets new editor, integrating with Virginian-Pilot biz section

Tom White

Tom White is becoming business editor for Virginia Media, a new holding company for Tronc’s Southeastern Virginia media properties.

A story on its website states, “In that capacity, White, currently The Pilot’s sports editor, will oversee Inside Business, which is integrating its operations with The Pilot. White also will lead the team that produces Daily Press business news and TidewaterBiz.com.

“His role is to expand IB’s focus, digital audience and regional business news coverage.

“The publications are owned by Chicago-based Tronc, which bought all of the Pilot’s and Landmark Media Enterprises’ assets in May for $34 million.

“‘Under Landmark ownership, Inside Business developed into a critically important piece of the company,’ White said. ‘Clearly, it will remain an important component under our new owners. My hope is to build on the strong brand and expand the content — both online and in print — to include news from around the region.’

“‘Let’s make it even more critical for business leaders to read each week,’ White continued.”
