Insana done with hedge fund, planning return to media

Ron Insana, a former CNBC anchor who left the network to start a hedge fund, is leaving the hedge fund that he’s been working at and planning a return to media, writes Zachary Kouwe of the New York Times.

Kouwe writes, “Mr. Insana has decided to leave his post at SAC Capital just six months after he was hired as a managing director, a person briefed on the matter told DealBook. Mr. Insana’s last day at the hedge fund giant, run by billionaire Steven A. Cohen, will be Feb. 27.

“Mr. Insana is planning to return to the media industry, this person said, but it’s unclear if he will be rejoining CNBC. Jonathan Gasthalter, a spokesman for SAC, declined to comment.

“He joined Mr. Cohen last year to advise on the firm’s strategic development, but SAC employees were often confused about what his exact role in the firm was.”
