Indianapolis Star hires Briggs as business reporter

James Briggs, the deputy managing editor of the Baltimore Business Journal, has been hired as a business reporter for the Indianapolis Star.

Briggs writes, “I’ve joked many times during the last two-plus years that writing this daily “8 things you need to know” post is the most popular thing I’ve done in my career — and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. But it’s a lie. I’ve loved connecting with you, sharing links that I find interesting, reading your email and meeting you at events. It has added a lot of fun to a job I would’ve loved anyway during the last four years. My awesome colleagues will keep it going. Thanks for reading and making this a small part of your morning.”

Briggs has been with the Baltimore Business Journal since December 2011, starting out as a reporter. He also spent 17 months as an associate editor.

Before, Briggs was a reporter for the Daily Reporter in Milwaukee and a sports writer for the Oakland Press in Michigan. He also spent three years at the Ann Arbor News. Briggs is an Eastern Michigan University graduate.
