Southern Business JournalThe Southern Illinoisan newspaper is rolling out a redesigned Southern Business Journal, reports editor Autumn Phillips.

Phillips writes, “Over the past couple months, a group of us have met around a conference table, looking through fonts and stacks of business publications — Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Inc., Entrepreneur — to see what has worked for others. We want, more than anything, to be useful to the people of Southern Illinois. As a business ourselves, we want to use our ability to collect and distribute information to help others succeed in business. We want to be a part of making this area an economic success.

“Being a part of something like takes more than filling pages with words and pictures. It requires being a voice in a community conversation.

“The new Southern Business Journal is designed to be a conversation. We did our best this edition and will continue to with future editions to bring as many people into the pages as possible. We asked them to share their advice and opinions as business owners, community leaders and bosses.

“Each month, we’ll have a theme and we’ll get people talking based on the theme. Tuesday’s edition is about the site selection — examining how business owners decide to invest in a community.”
