Illinois paper promotes biz editor to ME

Scott Perry, the business editor of the Decatur Herald & Review in Illinois, has been promoted to managing editor.

A story on its website states, “Perry, a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, has worked at the Herald & Review for 24 years after starting his professional career at the Effingham Daily News. He has served the Herald & Review as Effingham Bureau Chief, night editor, business editor and editor of the Business Journal.

“‘Scott is a talented journalist, a leader in the newsroom and one of the best idea people I’ve ever worked with,’ Sawyer said. ‘I’m excited to have him working with our excellent editors, reporters and photographers every day to give our print and digital readers the best products possible.’

“Perry said he’s excited about the new challenge. ‘We have a great team at the Herald & Review and it is an exciting and challenging time to be in the media business. I look forward to helping shape our future.’'”
