Illinois paper names new business editor

Stephen Di Benedetto has been named the business editor of the Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake, Ill.

Di Benedetto writes, “In the role, I want to try and cover all aspects of the business community in McHenry County, from life within the workplace to new and emerging trends within various industries. I want to highlight the new businesses coming into towns and report the ones leaving.

“I want to feature small and large businesses that provide interesting and innovative services and products, along with detail issues and developments affecting consumers.

“I always can use the extra help to accomplish these tasks. That’s why I’m calling on you – the reader.”

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
