John Plevka, the managing editor of the Peoria Journal-Star, writes Tuesday about how business news will now appear on the front of a section during several days during the week.

Plevka writes, “On Sunday we replaced the Heartland section front with the Sunday Business pages, which previously appeared inside the front section of the Sunday edition. In its new location, the section will continue to feature weekly staples such as the Business Watch column by Business Editor Steve Tarter. The ‘social’ news (weddings, anniversaries and engagements) will continue to appear inside this section. Other content from the Heartland section, like the longer, in-depth feature stories with related photographic spreads, will migrate to the front section.

“In Monday’s newspaper, we will retire the Kids Journal Star page. Over the years, the KJS concept has served as a nice, youthful break from the daily norm; however, as we transition away from the KJS print format, we will explore ways to develop more youth-related content opportunities on our website, pjstar.com.

“The Sports section will move forward to the third section of the Monday newspaper. At the back of the Monday Sports section will be the Games, Comics and Television pages. The Marketplace (classifieds) section will be a stand-alone, fourth section on Monday.

“On Friday we will again move the daily Business page from inside the front section to the front of the third section. This position was previously occupied by a weekly Health page. The Sunday and Friday Business fronts will give a higher profile to ever-important economic content. Health-related stories will be integrated into other sections of the newspaper.”
