HuffPo’s Freeman joining Toronto Star biz desk

Sunny Freeman, the national business correspondent for The Huffington Post, has been hired by The Toronto Star’s business news desk.

She starts Aug. 4.

Freeman previously worked previously as a business reporter/editor at The Canadian Press, where she focused on real estate, personal finance and retail, and did a one-year stint as an intern at The Star in 2008-09. Freeman also interned at the Vancouver Sun.

Freeman has degrees from Western University and the University of British Columbia. And she has been involved in the Society of American Business Editors and Writers organization in Canada.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
