OLD Media Moves

Telegraph expanding Friday and Sunday papers

October 18, 2019

The Telegraph is changing its print edition schedule by expanding on its Friday and Sunday papers. This means that the Saturday print edition will be replaced following this expansion.

According to the company, the move comes due to the changing needs of readers and the communities that The Telegraph serves. However, the company will still be providing coverage on the same news including local governments and schools, sports and watchdog journalism that holds public officials accountable.

Additionally, The Telegraph adds that an increasing number of readers (globally) are engaging with online journalism. To support these shifts, as of Jan. 18, 2020, the company will no longer produce a printed newspaper on Saturday and will launch with a Weekend Edition that includes expanded newspapers on Fridays and Sundays.

Many of the features that readers enjoy on Saturday such as comics, puzzles, TV listings and local sports coverage will now appear in expanded editions in print on Friday and Sunday. On Saturdays, The Telegraph will continue to publish breaking local news on their website and social media platforms.

The company also invites readers to visit their website or eEdition, which replicates the experience of a printed newspaper online.

The Telegraph further goes on to thank readers for their support as the company, along with their readers make this transition together.
