Veteran journalist Daniel Finnegan has been names managing editor of Triad Business Journal. Finnegan brings 35 years of newspaper experience to the company.

Finnegan, 57, has extensive experience as an editor, including more than two decades managing publications, operations, budgets and systems. He has also worked at newspapers in Greensboro and Richmond, Virginia.

Additionally, he also managed the successful redesign of the News and Record website, greensboro.com, which increased digital audience by 35 percent in two years.

Finnegan spent the majority of his career at the Richmond Times-Dispatch serving as vice president of news, digital strategy and marketing. He also held the roles of editor, deputy managing editor, assistant sports editor and sports copy editor.

Danny’s track record as an editor, knowledge of the Triad market and experience in growing digital audiences make him a great fit for Triad Business Journal,” said Lloyd Whittington, editor-in-chief.

“I’m truly excited to join the staff at Triad Business Journal,” Finnegan added. “I wanted to stay in the Greensboro area and continue to work in journalism, so this is a perfect fit. I’m looking forward to working for a growing company that has a strong business model and a commitment to excellent journalism.”

Finnegan holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from James Madison University and is a member of the board of directors of the Shepherd’s Center of Greensboro.
