Former Reuters senior security correspondent Alissa de Carbonnel has left the company to join Crisis Group as Olya Oliker’s deputy, covering Russia and its neighbors.
Previously, de Carbonnel has worked as an intern at Integrity Research and Consultancy and as a correspondent for political and general news at Reuters. She has also served as ISDA credit and fixed income derivatives transaction manager at Barclays Investment Bank.
She also worked at Deutsche Presse Agentur as correspondent for Russia and CIS. Additionally, she also has planning experience as she worked as event planner and production manager at Party Planners West.
De Carbonnel is a B.A. in comparative literature and government from Cornell University. She also holds a master’s degree in public policy from University of Oxford.
She joined Reuters in Moscow in 2010 and has worked with Foreign Policy, Agence France-Presse, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, USA Today, The Globe and Mail, and The Moscow Times. She is French and American and speaks Russian and Spanish.
