Previously, Lin was a data journalist at CommonWealth Magazine.
He was also a data visualization designer at Singapore Press Holdings and was a data product manager at Initium Media Technology Ltd. He was also a data editor at The News Lens and was a news editor at United Daily News.
Lin holds a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree from London School of Economics and Political Science.
