How women break into business journalism

Tiffany Dufu of Levo League interviewed Fox Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo, CNBC’s Becky Quick, and Bloomberg Television’s Betty Liu and Stephanie Ruhle about their careers and how they became successful in business journalism.

“I’m tough, but I am as tough on myself as anyone else,” said Ruhle (right), who is an anchor and managing editor of Bloomberg Television. “You have to treat everyone with the same level of respect.”

Quick, co-anchor of “Squawk Box,” told Dufu that Wall Street Journal editor Karen Pensiero was very influential : “I went to work with her with the intention of leaving and going to Washington, D.C. But I loved it so much.”

“She was a wonderful, wonderful boss. She gave me all kinds of opportunities. She loaned me out to other parts of the newspaper…and fill in on the commodities beat for a week.”
