The Houston Business Journal has hired Florian Martin to cover commercial real estate.
He will start on Monday.
Martin is the business reporter at Houston’s National Public Radio station KUHF and also covers criminal justice, guns and shootings.
He has earned awards from Texas AP Broadcasters, the Houston Press Club, National Association of Real Estate Editors, and Public Radio News Directors Inc., and he also won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting for his story uncovering important evidence in the police shooting of Baytown resident Pamela Turner.
After earning his M.A. in journalism, American studies and Hispanic studies at the University of Leipzig, Martin started off his new life interning in the KUHF newsroom.
After a 16-month stint as a reporter for Houston Community Newspapers, he was invited back to Houston Public Media in 2012 to take over the NewsLab Coordinator position and quickly morphed into a daily reporter.
