Kent Hoover, the Washington bureau chief for American City Business Journals, has retired.
Hoover was also the editor of the Orlando Business Journal and Washington Business Journal during his 30-year tenure with Charlotte-based ACBJ.
“I decided to retire because I want to start my own business, a record store in the Nashville, TN area,” said Hoover in a message to Talking Biz News. “(Not open yet!) I’m also open to freelance journalism assignments.”
Hoover was editor of the Orlando paper from 1991 to 1997 and the Washington paper from 1997 to 1999.
As the Washington bureau chief, Hoover was the focused on covering legislation, regulation and government programs that help or hurt the ability of small businesses to grow. He write for 40 business journals around the country, primarily through the bizjournals.com website.
Hoover is a Duke University graduate.
