OLD Media Moves

Hollywood Reporter’s Barr hired by Washington Post

Washington Post executive features editor Liz Seymour and deputy features editors David Malitz and Mitch Rubin sent out the following on Wednesday:

We are delighted to tell you that Jeremy Barr, a senior media writer at The Hollywood Reporter, will be joining Features as a breaking news reporter.

Jeremy will jump on the day’s top media news, a broad — and polarizing — coverage area that fascinates readers and is especially important in an election year.

This beat represents an expansion of The Post’s already strong media team, and we can think of no one more qualified than Jeremy, who has covered the media industry for Politico New York, Advertising Age, and most recently at The Hollywood Reporter, where he’s been for the last three years.

He has written about media in all its forms, including the cozy relationship between Fox News and the White House and the health of digital media, as well as profiles of many media figures, including a pre-covid Chris Cuomo.

A native of Rockville, Md., Jeremy attended Emory University and earned a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Maryland after teaching English in Hungary and working at the Pew Research Center. As a teenager, he participated in The Post’s young journalist development program.

Jeremy resides in Brooklyn and will move to D.C. when we return to the newsroom. He starts June 29.

Please join us in welcoming Jeremy to The Post.
