Lovia Gyarkye has been hired by The Hollywood Reporter as arts and culture reporter.

A story on its website states, “In the newly created role, Gyarkye will review film, TV and streaming content and write about current cultural topics and trends for both online and print editions. Based in New York, Gyarkye will report to reviews editor Jon Frosch.

“‘Lovia is a fresh, exciting voice in criticism,’ says Frosch. ‘She’s an insightful and versatile writer with a compelling perspective on film, TV, literature and the way these art forms intersect and interact with our current political and cultural moment. We’re thrilled to have her on the team.’

“Previously, Gyarkye was an editor at The New York Times‘ monthly print section for kids and a researcher for The New York Times Book Review. Her essays and reviews have been published in The New York Times, as well as outlets such as The AtlanticVogue and The Nation. Gyarkye has also worked at The New Republic as a researcher and writer.”
