John Heltman has been promoted to editor in chief of American Banker magazine.
He will start with the January/February issue.
“I don’t buy into the idea of a ‘dream job,’ but that’s what this feels like for me. I’m excited for — and humbled by — the opportunity,” he wrote on Twitter.
Heltman has covered the Federal Reserve Board and Treasury Department for American Banker since 2014. Before joining American Banker, he covered derivatives markets and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for Argus Media, and before that covered the Environmental Protection Agency for Inside Washington Publishers.
He is a 2005 graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
