Rachel Nolan, assistant professor of international relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, has been named a contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine.
Her new role starts with Harper’s October issue.
However, Nolan’s role will not involve editing for the magazine; rather, her role represents an ongoing writing relationship with Harper’s.
Nolan said,
“The editors are wonderful, and I’m thrilled to be named a contributing editor in recognition of the ongoing relationship with the magazine.”
Prior to working at Boston University, she held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Columbia Society of Fellows in the humanities at Columbia University. Nolan has also worked as a journalist with her writing appearing in New York Times, London Review of Books, and El Faro among other publications.
Currently, Nolan is completing a book manuscript on the history of international adoption from Guatemala.
Nolan holds a B.A. in history and literature from Harvard University and a doctorate in Latin American and Caribbean history from New York University.
Her dissertation won a Dean’s Outstanding Dissertation Award and NYU’s Outstanding Dissertation Award for the Humanities.
