Stephen Wisnefski, deputy managing editor of professional news at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement on Monday:
Colleagues –
I am pleased to announce that Glenn Hall has been appointed Chief Editor for Dow Jones Newswires, a central role in the newsroom and one that’s critical to the success of our Professional Information Business.
Glenn, a veteran of real-time financial news who most recently served as U.S. News Editor for The Wall Street Journal, will oversee a team of reporters and editors dedicated to producing content for Dow Jones Newswires. He will work closely with senior editors and bureau chiefs around the world to ensure we are taking full advantage of the scoops and insights generated by our journalists for the benefit of financial professionals.
Glenn will also interact regularly with members of our commercial, data strategy and technology teams to identify opportunities and develop new features for our Newswires offering.
Glenn brings a long track-record in digital, real-time news and wire service experience at MarketWatch, TheStreet and Bloomberg News. He became U.S. News Editor at WSJ in May 2014 after leading MarketWatch as editor in chief from October 2013.
Prior to coming to Dow Jones, Glenn led a startup digital news site called TheBlaze as managing editor and previously served as editor in chief and senior vice president of TheStreet, a publicly traded financial news site with a host of real-time subscription services. Glenn also led the digital transformation of The Orange County Register as its chief innovation officer and held various leadership positions at Bloomberg News in Europe and the U.S.
Glenn started his news career at The Journal-Gazette in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was an investigative reporter focusing on business issues. He holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management from Boston University and Bachelor’s Degrees in Journalism and Political Science from The Ohio State University.
A vagabond son of a U.S. Air Force officer, Glenn lived all over the world before settling down in New York City with his wife and dog in 2008, making this the place he has now lived the longest in his life.
Please join me in wishing Glenn much success in this new and important role for Dow Jones.
