Guardian hires MarketWatch’s Paul to cover technology

Kari Paul

The Guardian has hired Kari Paul to cover technology in its California bureau.

Paul has been working at MarketWatch.com as a personal finance reporter covering tech and culture since September 2016.

Paul has primarily covered technology, politics, and culture. Her work has appeared at Vice magazine, The Week, New York magazine, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Quartz.

She covered the 2016 elections as a contributor at Complex magazine. Previously, she wrote for Vice’s Motherboard, where she covered tech policy, privacy, and the digital divide.

She holds a degree from the University of Missouri.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
