Group editorial director Scott Wenger is among those who left Arizent, formerly SourceMedia, last week.
“I deeply value my nine years at Arizent for a long list of reasons, but these two stand out,” said Wenger.
“As an editor who prizes opportunities to build exceptional teams and join them in the trenches creating agenda-setting content, we regularly captured the attention of our readership, the financial industry, our peers at major media outlets, and even Congress,” he said.
“As a journalist who loves helping create and successfully monetize new ideas in this rapidly emerging digital era, the collegial talent was accomplished and inspiring,” he said.
Last week, Wenger and his team learned that Financial Planning had again won two SABEW Best in Business Awards: for General Excellence in its category, SABEW’s top prize, and Best Banking/Finance coverage in its category for a multimedia investigative project by a top editor that she and Wenger worked on for more than a year. Wenger also learned he’s being honored with Dow Jones News Fund’s inaugural Game Changer Award for creating digital opportunities in financial journalism.
As group editorial director at Arizent, Wenger managed 50 staff and freelance at six brands covering financial advice, employee benefits and workplace issues, and asset management. He came to SourceMedia from the New York Daily News, where he concluded a 13-year run as managing editor for money and business.
While there, Wenger launched a small business conference series and a weekly personal finance news magazine, authored an award-winning series on the impact of China’s booming economy on New Yorkers, and was a weekly guest on a New York radio show for nearly a decade. Previous gigs included a five-year stint as a business news producer at CNN and CNBC, and as a health care equities analyst at Alex. Brown & Sons.
Wenger is exploring new opportunities and welcoming outreach.
