Neil Ashe, the CEO of CNET Networks, spoke on the company’s earnings conference call Thursday about the opportunities in business media.
Ashe said, “In the first quarter, we launched BNET. There is a large unmet opportunity in business media. Currently business media is largely focused on business sports, who is winning, who is losing, who got a new contract, who got caught cheating. This approach is business from the outside.
“BNET is focused on business from the inside. We are arming business managers with the tools to do their job better. BNET delivers practical insight and straight forward tools for the challenges managers face everyday, and has the largest non-IT business resources directory on the internet.
“We are excited about the opportunity for BNET. It can be a meaningful contributor to our future growth. User and usage trends have been impressive. [Livenow] for less than two moths, the site reaches close to 1 million unique users per month and is scaling.
“We have supported the launch with the successful cost promotion program across our network. BNET gives marketers a high quality outlet to reach influential business professionals who are passionate about keeping informed, building knowledge and sharing insides to master their lives at work and further their carriers.”
