The Los Angeles Times has hired Philip Gray as deputy op-ed editor Opinion.
Gray joins from Bloomberg News, where he was an editor for 6 years on the diversity and sustainability teams.
Prior to Bloomberg, he was with The New York Times for more than 7 years, joining as a copy editor for Business Day.
He then became staff editor, Room for Debate, and was then promoted to the post of assistant news editor, News Desk.
Gray has worked as a copy editor at The Washington Post and The Wichita Eagle.
Gray holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies, journalism, English, biology and sociology from Wichita State University and a M.A. from Union Theological Seminary.
