The Toronto-based Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine is honing its focus to concentrate on management strategy and corporate leadership.
In announcing the shift in focus, ROB editor James Cowan explained that with so much conflicting information and the shifting winds blowing through the global economy, business leaders face a dizzying array of risks and opportunities.
“We are here to help,” he writes.
A new section, Need to Know, has been added to the magazine, highlighting the best analysis coming
This issue marks the debut of Canada’s Top Growing Companies, a ranking that spotlights the country’s next generation of corporate superstars. With this package, the ROB magazine celebrates entrepreneurial excellence while sharing the secrets that allowed these firms to skyrocket.
“We undertake these new initiatives while remaining committed to the in-depth storytelling and commentary that’s been central to the magazine’s mission for 35 years,” writes Cowan.
He cites instances where business reporting has been superficial, focusing on quick-fix, superficial formulas for business success that are the equivalent of a fad diet.
He argues that what business leaders need is trustworthy advice and strategic insight.
According to a global survey released earlier this year, CEOs’ confidence that their own companies will continue to grow has fallen to the lowest levels since the financial crisis. Meanwhile, there’s been a fivefold increase in the belief that the global economy is headed for decline.
The reshaped ROB magazine aims to provide that advice and insight.
