Sara Gilgore, a digital producer at The Washington Business Journal, has been promoted to health care reporter at the paper, replacing Tina Reed, who left last month.
Gilgore writes, “This beat encompasses everything from the small startups to the public biotech companies to the giant hospital systems. How are the existing players evolving and leaving greater marks on the industry? How are entrepreneurs hustling to carve out spaces to innovate? How are the universities fueling research and cultivating commercialization?
“And, how do they all intersect in and around what my predecessor, Tina Reed, called ‘one of the biggest business stories in Greater Washington,’ the health care industry?
“Innovation lies at the heart of it all: the institutions investing in it, the trends evolving from it, the money fueling it and the people pushing it.
“I started at the WBJ in September 2015 as a digital producer, fresh out of graduate school. It’s been such a privilege to get to know what so many of us know as ‘the other Washington,’ the dynamic, growing business community that makes this region what it is. I’ve been fortunate to cover everything from the ups and downs of TechShop in Crystal City to the luxury housing market, a seemingly endless string of ‘Shark Tank’ alumni and a couple’s journey opening an Indian restaurant in Loudoun (which I will continue to follow).”
