Gaming reporter Stutz leaving Las Vegas paper

Howard Stutz, who has covered the gaming industry for the last decade for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, is leaving the newspaper.

Stutz announced on Twitter that he is joining the law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP as a strategic development manager in Las Vegas. “Totally overwhelmed with emotion today from all the good wishes,” he wrote.

Stutz has been with the newspaper since November 2004, covering the casino gaming industry in Nevada, nationally and internationally for the business section if the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the largest daily newspaper in Nevada. On Sundays, he writes the “Inside Gaming” column.

He was one of the reporters who broke the story that casino owner Sheldon Adelson had purchased the paper.

From November 2000 to March 2002, he was director of corporate communications for Anchor Gaming, a major slot machine manufacturer.
