FT’s Ahmed to become its sports correspondent

Murad Ahmed

Murad Ahmed, who has been covering the gambling, hotels, restaurants and tourism industries for the Financial Times since early 2015, is becoming the paper’s sports correspondent.

Ahmed expects to move into his new position by September.

Before covering leisure industries, Ahmed was a tech reporter in London covering European tech companies. He joined the FT in July 2014 after six years of covering tech for The Times of London.

He also was a general news and business reporter for The Times for two years.

Ahmed holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of London.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
