FT passes 700,000 digital subs, 900,000 total subs

The Financial Times has exceeded 700,000 digital subscribers and 900,000 total subscribers for the first time, reports Domonic Ponsford of The Press Gazette.

Ponsford writes, “The title has seen a surge in digital subscribers since April when it revealed the total stood at 650,000, up 14 per cent year on year. At the time it said Brexit and the US presidential election appeared to have particularly fuelled subscriber growth.

“Press Gazette understands that the FT hit the new figure last week for the first time and the new total is likely to be reflected in audited circulation figures for the fourth quarter of this year.

“The total is arrived at by adding total print circulation with digital subscribers.

“Global print circulation is around 190,000 per day (which includes around 26,000 UK bulks which are not actively purchased).”
