The Financial Times has hired Alexis Akwagyiram to be a digital editor on its world desk.
He previously was Nigeria bureau chief for Reuters.
Akwagyiram has been bureau chief since 2017 and before that was a senior correspondent based in Lagos. As bureau chief, he managed a staff of 20 across the country. As a reporter, he covered economic trends, politics, civil society and the arts.
He previously worked at BBC News for more than a decade.
Akwagyiram is a graduate of the University of Sheffield.
