Jennifer Ablan, long-time editor of U.S. investments at Reuters, is joining the FT as its U.S. markets editor starting October 1.
Ablan will lead a team of four reporters covering the beat. She spent more than a decade at Reuters, overseeing coverage of the strategies of America’s biggest and most influential money managers, including billionaire activist Carl Icahn, DoubleLine’s “Bond King” Jeffrey Gundlach, Pimco’s Dan Ivascyn, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett and Bridgewater’s Greg Jensen.
“Jennifer is known across Wall Street for breaking big stories and getting inside the heads of New York’s most prominent investors, something that comes from years of dealing with the US’s leading fund managers,” Peter Spiegel, who assumed the role of US managing editor in April of this year, said in an email. “She’s an award-winner, a team builder and a go-getter – exactly the kind of journalist we were looking for as we expand and strengthen our already impressive US network.”
Prior to most recent role, Ablan spent over two and a half years as Senior US investments correspondent. Previously, she spent more than five years at Barron’s Magazine as a staff writer/columnist, and two years at Dow Jones Newswires as a reporter. Ablan received the 2011 Rising Star award from the Women’s Bond Club, and has been named one of Business Insider’s “125 most important finance people you have to follow” on Twitter.
Ablan received a B.A. in journalism and political science from the University of Hawaii.
