Fox Business Web site reports record traffic in September

The Web site for Fox Business Network, which celebrates its one-year anniversary on Wednesday, recorded record traffic in September.

The site recorded 2.13 million unique hits in September, up 30 percent from August 2008. The record eclipses the previous record Fox Business set, of 1.9 million unique visitors, when the network launched.

As recently as June, the site was reporting 1.6 million visitors in a month. The source for the data is Nielsen Online NetView P2+ (Home/Work) Data.

However, it should be noted that Fox Business’ site gets some of is traffic by its link on the Fox news site. Other business news sites do not have such links.

Meanwhile, Kansas City star TV critic Aaron Barnhart writes on his blog that Fox Business Network is “What’s working.”

He writes, “FBN has languished in digital-cable obscurity because it didn’t have what Fox News had: enemies. Now it has one in CNBC resident screamer Jim Cramer. FBN is buying TV ad print ads that ask ‘How Bad Is Cramer?’ and ‘Can You Afford to Watch CNBC?’ They’d be tacky if they weren’t so true.”
