Fox Business remains fastest-growing cable channel

Fox-Business-LogoFox Business Network, which ended 2015 as the fastest-growing cable news channel, has continued that growth in the first half of 2016, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The eight-year-old network reported an average of 128,000 total viewers during the 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. business day slot, an increase of 113 percent, making it once again the fastest-growing cable news channel.

During the second half of 2015, the network saw a 56 percent increase in viewers to 95,000.

The network saw individual records from all of its programs in the quarter but strong growth from two shows — “Lou Dobbs Tonight” and “Varney & Co.”

For the second quarter, Lou Dobbs‘ show, which airs at 7 p.m., averaged 220,000 total viewers, up 28.6 percent from the 171,000 total viewers it was averaging in February. “Lou Dobbs Tonight” was the highest rated news program on business television for the second quarter.

Stuart Varney‘s show, which airs from 9 a.m. to noon, averaged 176,000 viewers for the quarter, making it the No. 3 business television show behind Dobbs and CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street/Squawk Alley,” which averaged 187,000 total viewers for the quarter.
