Lauren Kirchner resigned her position as an investigative reporter. She had been with The Markup since October 2018 and previously worked at ProPublica as a senior reporting fellow on the “Machine Bias” series. She holds a master’s degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
Surya Mattu resigned his position as an investigative data journalist. He had been with The Markup since September 2018 and previously was a research scientist at the MIT Media Lab/Center for Future Civic Media. He also worked as a data reporter on the special projects desk at Gizmodo.
Adrianne Jefferies, an investigative reporter, resigned a position at The Markup that she had just started in March. She was previously future editor at The Outline and managing editor at Vice’s tech and science site, Motherboard.
