Fortune hires three new staffers in Europe

Fortune magazine has hired three editorial staffers in Europe to expand its daily news coverage.

Siva Sithraputhran joined as the editor running the new daily news coverage team based in Europe. He has been a freelancer for the past six years, but he previously worked for Reuters, Dow Jones Newswires, Thomson Financial News and AFX News.

Sophie Mellor is now a reporter on the Europe daily news team. She previously worked at Euromoney Institutional Investor covering renewables and energy mergers and acquisitions.

Christiaan Hetzner is a business writer on the daily news team in Europe. He had been freelancing, but previously spent 10 years at Reuters. He also worked for Dow Jones Newswires. Hetzner also covered the German auto industry for Automotive News Europe.

Sithraputhran and Mellor are based in England while Hetzner is in Germany.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
