Fortune magazine has hired business journalist Ashley Lutz to be its director of social and audience.
She will start in mid-December.
Lutz has been at Leaf Group as its director of content and audience development in the performance brands and partners department. Leaf Group brands include Well + Good, Society6, Livestrong, and Only In Your State.
She had been editor in chief of The Points Guy and a vice president at parent company Red Ventures. She has been there since June 2018. She was in charge of all content production, including editorial articles, video, and podcast.
She previously was executive editor at Business Insider. At Business Insider, Lutz also led its retail, transportation, and executive lifestyle teams. She joined Business Insider from Bloomberg and developed and wrote Business Insider’s “Ask the Insider” work-advice column.
Lutz was the inaugural recipient of the Mark Pittman Investigative Reporting internship at Bloomberg during the summer of 2010 and split her time with the project and investigations and real estate teams.
The Ohio University graduate covered business and enterprise stories for The Columbus Dispatch and oversaw a staff of 150 as editor-in-chief of The Post, Ohio University’s daily student newspaper.
